The Reading Group Introduces Homework Helpers! Homework Helpers allows students to bring their Chromebooks, other homework devices, or workbooks and to work independently in socially distanced small groups, with a qualified teacher/tutor roving between the students to help as needed. Students may be logged on for their official class time, or working on homework from their class sessions, or working quietly.
Sessions should be scheduled to include time when students have the work and the attention span to stay busy; in the 1-2.5 hour range.
The cost is $20/hour.To register and get further information, please call The Reading Group between 8:00 and 6:00 p.m. at 217-351-9144.

Our Mission
As a non profit, our mission is to provide specialized reading, writing, and math instruction to those who struggle with dyslexia and other learning difficulties and to those seeking academic enrichment. We are dedicated to promoting community awareness and support about such learning challenges as well as fostering lifelong literacy.

The Reading Group specializes in the use of individualized, multi-sensory approaches to learning.
Students have opportunities to use computers and interactive software. Another distinctive feature is the emphasis on helping each student attain independence. Our highly trained and experienced staff provide individualized instruction for each student’s special needs.

Tutoring for The Reading Group

The Reading Group has part-time positions available for experienced, certified special education teachers, to provide one-on-one instruction for students with learning disabilities, especially dyslexia. Must be available to provide tutoring two or more days Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with some Saturdays optional.
Prospective tutors must submit a resume, references and a cover letter to jhinton@readinggroup.org.
