Overview of Supplemental Educational Services

What are supplemental educational services?

SES is additional academic instruction funded by federal monies received by your local school. This program is designed to help your child improve his or her academic performance.

When will my school offer SES?

After three years of failing to make adequate yearly progress (AYP) as defined by No Child Left Behind, your child may be eligible to receive SES from The Reading Group. For more information on AYP, click on the following link: Measuring AYP

May every child at my school receive SES?

Under federal law, only students eligible for the federal Free & Reduced Lunch program are eligible to receive SES.

How will I know if my child is eligible?

If your child is eligible, your school should send you a notice about the SES program with more information and an application for enrolling your child. You can also click on the following link for more information: No Child Left Behind

Who pays for the SES tutoring?

In compliance with No Child Left Behind, federal funds will be set aside to cover the cost of supplemental educational services.
